Sand in the city
Beach feeling in the midst of Vienna! Sand in the city is one of the places to be in summer in Vienna. The location, which serves as an ice-skating rink during winter, is turned into a large beach as soon as the first rays of warm sunlight start showing in spring.
There are several food stands offering food from all over the world, cocktails are ice-cold and yummy, chairs and sunbeds are inviting and there are even two beach volleyball courts. This year they also built a children’s playground to entertain even the youngest of visitors.
Sand in the city also organizes events. There is a lesson of Zumba every Thursday from 7 to 8 pm or a “cover me in sand”competition.
Admission is free of charge. Sand in the city is open daily from 2pm to midnight. You can reach it by tube U4 Stadtpark, exit Johannesgasse.
Address: Lothringerstr.22, 1030 Vienna
