René Magritte exhibition in the Albertina museum
Starting on November 9th an exhibition on René Magritte, surrealist of the 20th century, will be shown at the Albertina museum. The exhibition will last until the 26th of February 2012.
More than 150 artworks showing the artist’s development and rise to become one of the most famous artists of the 20th century are going to be displayed. Central to the exhibition are his methods of art; the use of recurring objects, the daily eroticism and the trivial. The relationship between his paintings and his earlier job in commercial arts will also be analysed as well as his lifestyle and working style.
The Albertina is open daily from 10am to 6pm, Wednesdays until 9pm. It is located at Albertina Platz 1, close to U1/U2/U4 stop at Karlsplatz and to U3 at Stephansplatz. Admission adults: €9,50 children and teenagers under the age of 19 may enter free of charge.
