It's pool time with Vienna’s nicest outdoor pools
It is summer again and we all want to escape the city’s heat. Here are some ideas of where to go to go swimming in Vienna. Schönbrunnerbad: swim next to the palace of Schönbrunn. Easy to reach, provides a large area including a beach volleyball court and a wellness-restaurant.
Here you get the opportunity to try out night swimming with flood light from July 1st to August 15th every night until 10pm. Opening hours: 8.30am to 10pm.
Gänsehäufl: is like an island in the “Alte Donau”. It has got 3 beaches, offers children’s entertainment, mini golf, playgrounds, a fitness area as well as large areas of beautiful green meadows, full of trees and surrounded by the “old” Danube. A complementary shuttle bus takes you there from the stop Kaisermühlen (U1). Opening hours: until the 31st of August: Mon-Fri 9am to 8pm, Sat, Sun & public holidays: 8am -9pm
Schafbergbad: has got a large area. You can find entertainment there such as mini golf, trampoline, there is a long slide which always attracts children’s attention and of course a restaurant. There is enough space for football and volleyball. All in all you can spread out quite well. A water gymnastics class takes place every day at 11:30, 2:30pm and 3:15pm. Opening hours: mon-fri 9am to 8pm and sat, sun and bank holidays: 8am-8pm until August 31st.
Therme Wien: This day spa offers table tennis, aquagym and a beach volleyball court in addition to the spacious and healthy pools. There are 600 sunbeds and there is music from Lounge FM radio station every Friday evening from 5pm.
