Even if the temperatures are slowly falling again and one only wants to hide oneself away at home, we will not let the approaching winter get us down! Because in November, some really special musical acts will come to Vienna that you should not miss out on:
Musical Highlights in November (1)
The Gorillaz
On Thursday, the 2nd of November, you will experience a real phenomenon in the Stadthalle Vienna: the Gorillaz! The special thing about the band is that it is fictive and consisting of four comic characters. The Gorillaz were brought into being in 1998 by the British singer Damon Albarn and the illustrator Jamie Hewlett as an answer to the replaceable artists on MTV. The cartoon characters all embody stereotypes which however got equipped with their own biographies and characteristics. There are no real persons behind the fictive band members, but rather a changing group of musicians and producers. After the in 2001 released debut album “Gorillaz” has been sold more than seven million times, the group entered the Guinness Book of Records as the “most successful virtual band”. On their tour, the latest album “Humanz” will be presented by the “Gorillaz live Band”, consisting of founder Damon Albarn, Gabriel Wallace, Mike Smith, Jesse Hackett, Jeff Wootton, Karl Vanden Bossche and Seye Adelekan. Moreover, the spectators can reckon with surprise guests. By the way, live gigs of the band are really rare, wherefore you should by no means miss out on the concert!
Chris Rea
Right on the next day, Chris Rea will honour the Stadthalle Vienna with a performance. The British singer, composer and guitarist with Italian-Irish background has discovered his love of music really early and has achieved his greatest successes in the 80ies and the early 90ies. In the 70ies, he has already been member of a band before he set up on his own as an artist. “Josephine”, “I can hear your Heartbeat” and “Ace of Hearts” rank among his greatest hits. With his numerous albums like “Water Sign”, “Wired to the Moon”, “Shamrock Diaries”, “Dancing with Strangers” or “The Road to Hell”, Chris Rea found many fans. But when the musician developed pancreatic cancer, he had to go through a rough time and fear for his life. Although he has recovered surprisingly well from it, the disease caused a recess in Chris Rea’s music and he founded his own Blues label afterwards. On friday, the 3rd of November, you will have the chance to get enchanted by Chris Rea’s soulful music and to experience him once again live in the Stadthalle Vienna!
So, say goodbye to your winter blues and come to Vienna instead! Our cosy Boutiquehotel is located within only five minutes of walking distance from the Stadthalle, by the way. We are already looking forward to welcoming all the music lovers in our house in November!
