The Austrian Ecolabel celebrates its 25th birthday
This year on 5th June, The Austrian Ecolabel (Umweltzeichen) is celebrating its 25th birthday, meaning there has been sustainable consumption in Austria for a quarter century now. The Austrian Ecolabel now supports more than 3200 eco-friendly products and services, which are not just environmentally friendly, but also preserve resources and produce huge cost savings.
The Austrian Ecolabel was created in 1990 by the Federal Ministry of the Environment and has helped consumers ever since to find environmentally friendly products. There are also 120 schools and educational institutions and 360 green tourism services, meetings and events which carry the Ecolabel, created by Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
