Since November 2016 we are proud associates of BIO HOTELS. Already ten years ago, hotels with a focus on sustainability have joined forces. Today the BIO HOTELS’ network consists of almost 100 hotels in seven European countries which makes it the largest association of ecological hotels. BIO HOTELS undergoes the certification of eco hotels certified to guarantee consistent standards.
BIO HOTELS – we are associates!
Guidelines and minimum standards
All members of BIO HOTELS commit to lead their hotels under ecological and sustainable aspects. Concerned are foods and beverages, cosmetics and the use of energy.
The foods and beverages served stem from certified ecological farms and are prepared naturally. To meet the standards all members undergo regular checks commissioned by the government voluntarily (Austria Bio Garantie in Austria). The inspectors make sure that all food products are treated carefully and processed under ecological standards.
Sustainability is a big factor in the non-food segment as well. Members commit to slowly replace conventional cosmetics and detergents with ecological products. Our skin is the biggest organ of our bodies and should be treated just as good as our insides. Chemically produced detergents can flow into our ground water and are a major environmental risk.
Another common objective of all members of BIO HOTELS is the reduction of CO2 emissions. Members commit to only use green electricity. Paper has to be recycled or stem from sustainable forestry.
Already prior to joining BIO HOTELS we can proudly report that we meet all criteria. Our ORGANIC breakfast consists of 100 % ecologically produced products, our house-made lavender products are manufactured under ecological standards as well and with our solar system, the ground water heat pump, the photovoltaic system and our three windmills we achieve a zero energy balance, which means that we produce as much energy as we consume. We are happily looking forward to the cooperation and the mutual support to reach our common objective of a more sustainable tourism!
